They filled my path full of doubt
    And wouldn’t hear me out
But still I chased my dreams
    They told me to quit
But my heart could not resist
And from the darkness came a light

    I will shine on tomorrow
Light the way for all to follow
From the darkness I will shine

Learning from the past I tried
To stare the world in the eyes
Find strength to pull me through
I saw through my tests and trials
A road that ran a thousand miles
At the end was only truth

    I will shine on tomorrow
Light the way for all to follow
In the darkness I will shine
    I will shine on forever
Take my chance now or never
In the darkness I will shine

    I know I can if I believe
And I will choose my destiny
We’ll make the change we want to see
I know we can if we believe
And we will choose our destiny
    I know I can if I believe

Album Description

This music album is the official soundtrack for the short film “1001 Inventions and the World of Ibn Al-Haytham”

The music album composed by Sami Yusuf and released by Andante Records features the song ‘Shine’ and ends with a special tribute track to the late actor Omar Sharif who delivers his final lead performance in the short film.

Directed by Ahmed Salim, the partly animated film storyline is intertwined with a live-action backstory starring Omar Sharif, who guides in the quest of discovering Ibn al-Haytham’s journey to understand the principles of light and optical theories. The album supports a global Ibn al-Haytham awareness campaign launched by British organisation 1001 Inventions in partnership with UNESCO that is part of United Nations proclaimed ‘International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies’ (IYL2015).
